In Blooms of the Monsoon, Vick Naresh uses painting as a site for transformation where memory and landscape merge in a sensuous dialogue between land and water. Here, Naresh's landscapes pulse with biomorphic energy that suggests a sort of blooming and renewal, transporting the viewer into an imaginative space full of storytelling and personal reflections but within a larger, global narrative. Metaphorical doorways lead into concepts of migration, growth, and resilience while simultaneously revealing tropes of the blooming unfamiliar, a hat tip to the subconscious.

Through the use of vibrant colour and fluid gestural marks, Naresh's compositions render memory as a tangible sensation shaped by displacement and return. The fusing of the legendary lotus and the humble pinecone appears as a recurring emblem throughout these works - two botanicals from incredibly divergent worlds intertwined to form a personal mythology of belonging. These hybrid blooms, suspended between the tropical and the continental, offer a meditation on adaptation, just the way identity, influenced by tidal currents, reshapes itself over time.
